Fozzie in Vang Vieng
December 2018
Fozzie has visited quite a number of large cities all over the world. It turns out that often the less densely populated places hide some treasures that still need to be discovered. Vang Vieng is home to only 25.000 people, but is surrounded by a truly stunning landscape that cannot be described in mere numbers. Times of excessive partying are over and some other place probably owns the title of backpacker capital now. Drunk tubing down Nam Sang River is no longer a thing. Still Fozzie didn’t get bored during his second stop in Laos. Fozzie in Vang Vieng.
- When I get up and this is what I see in the morning, I can tell that it’s gonna be a great day.
- The landscape is stunning. Imagine what it must look like when the rice paddies are freshly green.
- I climbed up to Nam Xay viewpoint. In the beginning I didn’t dare to approach the edge.
- Once you get used to the height, you start to really enjoy the view.
- Nam Xay viewpoint also has a nice hammock that rewards you for the exhausting climb.
- Nam Song River is wild enough for rafting. And sometimes peaceful enough to just sit down and relax.
- Tubing is no longer a thing in Vang Vieng. But I couldn’t resist the temptation and brought my own little float.
- In a city as small as Vang Vieng, the river is always a stone’s throw away.
- Near the Tham Chang Cave you’ll find the smallest of the many Vang Vieng lagoons. Just the right size for me.
