Fozzie in Trieste
July 2017
While the crowds of tourists start clogging up the plazas and narrow alleys in Venice during summer, Fozzie follows the Adriatic coastline to the East. Shortly before entering Slovenian territory, he arrives in a city, that is less crowded and well worth seeing. Less than two days are enough to fall in love with the capital of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Benvenuti a Trieste!
- Trieste welcomed me with an omnious sky on the first evening.
- But as soon as it got dark, the city unveiled its beauty.
- After midnight I had a brief look at the old stock exchange. Neptune kept guard for the rest of the night.
- Those romans, they left their rubble everywhere.
- It looks like a victory colomn. In fact it is a lighthouse too.
- From the old fortress you have a great view over the city.
- Also the city center is very close.
- Just like Venice they have a “canale grande” in Trieste too.
- Call me old fashioned, but I really like those old paper city maps.
- The later the evening, the longer my shadow gets.
