Indonesia is more than just Bali. Yogyakarta on Java island serves as a perfect starting point to discover the attractions in and around the city. Besides the buzzing city life, it has temples, archaeological sites and even beaches. Let’s not forget Mount Merapi, an impressive active volcano. No matter how you spell it, Jogjakarta, Yogya, Jogja, Fozzie had a good time: Fozzie in Yogyakarta.

“No mountain’s too high for you to climb – All you have to do is have some climbing faith, oh yeah” Does that apply to active volcanoes like Mount Merapi too?
-
-
Luweng Sampang is a small but beautiful canyon outside of the city in the mountains. Don’t forget to bring your own floating device and enjoy the silence.
-
-
Prambanan temple is great to look at. It is even more fascinating if you know that it was built more than 1000 years ago.
-
-
Don’t take it literally. But compared to Borobudur temple, Prambanan is almost within walking distance from Jogja.
-
-
Borobudur is famous for its magical sunrise moments. But even during daytime it is still an amazing place.
-
-
On a clear day Mount Merapi dominates the scenery. Even from a distance. And even when you have Plaosan temple right next to you.
-
-
It seems like it will still be a long way till full reconstruction of Sewu temple. I wonder if anyone knows where to put back every single stone here.
-
-
As beautiful as all those reliefs may seem, never touch them. Just admire them.
-
-
It looks like I have come to the end of the road. But Northwestern Australia is just 1500 km from here. Hello Australians, can you spot me?
-
-
Would you have expected to see this kind of sunset when you read ‘Fozzie in Yogyakarta’?
-
-
Yes, we are still in Yogykarta province. Beautiful beaches like Pantai Siung are just a short drive away from the city.
-
-
Why would you want to watch a crowded sunset on a Bali beach, when you can have your private beach sunset on Java? Pantai Siung is just one recommendation.
